Time and time again our New Jersey lodging guests write on their comment cards "Mark and Joanne and their family and staff were what made our experience so much more inviting than an ordinary hotel stay!" We are very proud of our reputation of fine service to our guests and for creating a warm and memorable bed and breakfast inn experience.
One thing that is certain when you visit the Island Guest House, our New Jersey B&B - you will receive personal attention for all of your needs. We will personally see that you receive fabulous service while you are here, checking on you at breakfast, an being around the Inn or available just a phone call away while trying not to "hover". Our only rule is if you require anything or you need something changed that you let us know immediately because we can not help you if you wait untill check out. We are the owners and innkeepers and are on site to greet you and answer any questions you may have about all of the wonderful things to do while you are here in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, NJ.
We are in our 21st year and understand that traveling can be stressful and tiring. Our efficiency, knowledge of the area, and interest in your comfort will help get you settled in and start you on your way to a memorable Jersey Shore vacation.
Joanne's passion is cooking, so you will usually find her in the cafe kitchen trying out new recipes and worrying about how to find the freshest local produce. You are always welcome to stop in and perch on one of the island stools for a bit of conversation and refreshment. Mark keeps the Inn in shape and loves to garden, so you will usually find him somewhere in the sun tending to a project or chatting with guests. He is more than willing to tell you about the history of the Inn, about his Harley, the quirks of restoring an old house, or the best place for dinner. Just look for the great tan!
Our daughter Victoria is our new Manager and has quickly become an integral part of the Inn. She is much loved by the guests, and her effervescent personality adds an extra "sparkle" to each day. From welcoming the guests at check in, to her trademark "Welcome to breakfast at the Island Guest House!", to her passion of matching exactly the perfect sheet pattern to each room, she is an immense asset to the Island Guest House Family.
We feel that being involved in and serving the community are important components of owning a bed and breakfast in a vacation resort area. Mark and Joanne have served on the Beach Haven Rescue Squad as EMTs, and Joanne has served as a commissioner for eight years and helped start the Beach Haven Historic Preservation Commission, as well as being involved in and volunteering at our c . She also has a degree in Historic Preservation from Rutgers University, received in 2007 to help her with the knowledge necessary in restoring this 100-plus-year-old Inn.
Our four children were raised on this beautiful island for the last 20 years. They are now 22 to 32, and off on their own, or at college. We enjoy their visits, but are also enjoying the fifth year of the lifestyle we enjoy living and working together on LBI running a B&B. Last year Mark retired from his job as an electrical engineer and now both of us together can enjoy the B&B, Beach Haven community and church, and our friends and family here on the island, as well as having our children and grandbabies come to visit grandma and grandpa at their beach house next door to the Inn.
In addition to our family, we also have an excellent professionally trained staff to see to your comfort and answer your questions.
