Time and time again our New Jersey lodging guests write on their comment cards "Mark and Joanne and their family and staff were what made our experience so much more inviting than an ordinary hotel stay!" We are very proud of our reputation of fine service to our guests and for creating a warm and memorable bed and breakfast inn experience!

One thing that is certain when you visit the Island Guest House, our New Jersey B&B - you will receive personal attention for all of your needs. We will personally see that you receive fabulous service while you are here. Our only rule is if you require anything or you need something changed that you let us know immediately because we can not help you if you wait untill check out!  We are the owners and innkeepers and are on site to greet you and answer any questions you may have about all of the wonderful things to do while you are here in Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, NJ.

We are in our fifteenth year and understand that traveling can be stressful and tiring. Our efficiency, knowledge of the area, and interest in your comfort will help get you settled in and start you on your way to a memorable Jersey Shore vacation.

Joanne's passion is cooking, so you will usually find her in the cafe kitchen trying out new recipes and worrying about how to find the freshest local produce. You are always welcome to stop in and perch on one of the island stools for a bit of conversation and refreshment. Mark keeps the Inn in shape and loves to garden, so you will usually find him somewhere in the sun tending to a project or chatting with guests. He is more than willing to tell you about the history of the Inn, about his Harley, the quirks of restoring an old house, or the best place for dinner. Just look for the great tan!

We feel that being involved in and serving the community are important components of owning a bed and breakfast in a vacation resort area. Mark and Joanne have served on the Beach Haven Rescue Squad as EMTs, and Joanne is a commissioner on the Beach Haven Historic Preservation Commission. She also has a degree in Historic Preservation from Rutgers University, received in 2007 to help her with the knowledge necessary in restoring this 100-plus-year-old Inn, and in helping with the running of Beach Haven's Historic District, which was started 5 years ago.

Our Family
Our Inn is a family affair. We have four children who have grown up involved with the running of a bed and breakfast in a beach resort town. They all help in varying degrees working in the Inn, and you may see them around while you are here. Brandon is the oldest and is 27. He graduated from Rutgers with a degree in Criminal Justice and besides running Inn security, helps off season with painting and Inn maintenance. Christina is the next in line and at 25, is here at the Inn on weekends to help with guests and running the Inn. Her specialty is making the most delicious blueberry or chocolate chip pancakes around (she has a secret ingredient!) Victoria is 21 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and is a professional nanny.  She also knows all aspects of innkeeping and cleaning and most likely will be the one to keep your room maticulously clean.  You can make arrangements with her for babysitting for a worry-free night out on the town for just the two of you. Our youngest is Mike who is 18 and an actor at the Surflight Theatre, the professional summer stock theatre right here in Beach Haven. He sometimes can also be seen serving the breakfast casserole or scrambling eggs untill he leaves for FAU College of the Arts in the fall.

In addition to our family, we also have an excellent professionally trained staff to see to your comfort and answer your questions.

Our Pets:
The main house at the Inn is pet-free, pets are allowed in our cottage, and our Innkeepers' house is next door.  That is where our cats Bistro and Star Kitty live.  They love to visit willing guests in the garden, so if you are not bringing your pet and just need a furry hug,  Bistro and Star are more than willing to comply! If you are allergic or just not a cat person, they know to mind their own business. Our grandpuppy Oscar the Pug also visits next door (not in the bed and breakfast) occasionally.

Bistro - our 1-year-old black, shorthair with beautiful orange eyes. Very gentle.
Star- Our 2-year-old tabby loves people and will usually greet you by the front of the B&B or stroll around the garden.
